Allianz adds to motor team

Motor damage expert Nick Rossiter and recoveries specialist Lee Crouch are joining the Allianz Commercial motor claims team as technical managers.

The two internal appointments reinforce the motor claims team now headed by Nick Kelsall.

Previously motor damage strategy manager, Rossiter brings a wealth of expertise in vehicle technology, repair and supply chain. He was instrumental in rolling out the automated procurement of green parts, as well as encouraging their wider adoption. In his 14 years at Allianz, he has held a variety of positions in underwriting, operations and claims.

Crouch, who joined Allianz five years ago via the claims graduate scheme, has a track record in handling major loss claims in motor and casualty and most recently as recoveries controller.

Joining respectively from the supply chain and claims strategy teams, they will now report to Kelsall, who became head of motor claims last month.

Rob Trueman appointed CDL chief technology officer

CDL has appointed Rob Trueman to the post of chief technology officer. He joins the executive team as the software house completes the migration of all customers of its flagship retail platform, Strata, to Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud-hosting.

Trueman has led the delivery of CDL’s cloud-only vision through a sustained programme of re-engineering platforms, upskilling teams and working closely with customers to enable them to access the resilience, speed and scalability of cloud-hosted solutions.

Commenting on Trueman’s appointment, CEO Nigel Phillips, said: “Rob has a proven track record in ensuring CDL has globally leading technology capabilities, building our solutions utilising the latest tools and architecture, and delivering them at pace for new and existing customers. He will play an instrumental role in continuing to deliver our strategic vision of driving our customers’ business success through technology.”

Previously head of software engineering, Trueman’s promotion to the executive team widens his remit to include cyber security.

Ageas appoints Alison Platt as UK board chair

Alison Platt has been appointed as chair of the Ageas UK board, effective from 1 October 2022, replacing Mark Winlow whose 10-year tenure with the business comes to an end in September.

Platt is a current FTSE chair and has served as CEO at Countrywide PLC and held several senior roles at Bupa.

Ageas detailed that she has over 20 years’ experience leading organisational transformation and growth through service innovation and the application of technology. This track record, the insurer argued, was “highly relevant” as it continues its own transformation journey and personal lines focused strategy.

Ant Middle, CEO of Ageas UK said he was looking forward to working with Platt “as we oversee the largest ever investment programme in Ageas UK’s people and technology capabilities and embrace her obvious passion for customers as we keep them at the centre of our thinking”.

He added: “I’m genuinely grateful to Mark who has been a champion of Ageas for over a decade.

“Not only has Mark immersed himself in our business and made a fundamental contribution to the strategic development of Ageas UK, but he has also been a much-valued mentor to me, my predecessors, and the executive team. I wish him all the very best for the future.”

David Hullin takes over entire international business from Jens Wohlthat on HDI Global management board

At the end of September, HDI Global board member Jens Wohlthat will retire and hand over his functions to David Hullin, the insurer has confirmed.

Hullin will then be responsible for the entire business of the industrial lines division of the Talanx Group outside Germany.

Previously, Hullin was responsible for Continental Europe, North and South America, the United Kingdom and Ireland, while Wohlthat’s area of responsibility covered the regions Asia-Pacific, Africa and the global network.

Hullin has been a member of the management board of HDI Global since May 2019.

Wohlthat will continue to remain available to HDI Global in an advisory capacity, the business stated.

Edgar Puls, chairman of the management board of HDI Global commented: “Jens Wohlthat has enriched the management board over many years beyond the scope of his international experience with his incisive opinions with the highest personal commitment.

“I would like to give him my heartfelt thanks for his dedication and I am delighted that he will continue to support us on our journey with advice into the future.

“David Hullin will continue to drive forward our international growth. I wish him every success in his supplementary function.”

Bruce Carnegie-Brown re-appointed as Lloyd’s chairman

Bruce Carnegie-Brown has been appointed for a third term as Lloyd’s chairman with a contract that runs until June 2025.

He was first appointed in 2017.

Carnegie-Brown said: “It has been a privilege to serve as Lloyd’s chairman over the last five years, and I am honoured to be re-appointed.

“There remains a great deal that we still need to do across the market and Corporation to build on the progress that we have made together in recent years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue doing so.”

Lloyd’s CEO, John Neal said: “I am delighted that Bruce and Lloyd’s Council have agreed this re-appointment for another term.

“It is a welcome affirmation from Bruce of his commitment to Lloyd’s and will provide the leadership team with continuity as it delivers on Lloyd’s strategy. His guidance and tenacity has seen Lloyd’s through some challenging times, and we are now in a strong position to build on the gains made in recent years.”
