Howden-owned Aston Lark has agreed terms to buy Allegiance Insure in its first acquisition of 2023.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Allegiance Insure was established by Charles Wintour in 2015. The firm, which is based in the City of London, is an appointed representative of Bennett Gould & Partners.

The broker lists its specialisms as including financial lines and high net worth insurance, as well as regulatory insurance to cover the costs of Financial Conduct Authority Section 166 Skilled Person Investigations.

It also provides business insurance across 10 sectors, ranging from building insurance including property portfolios and blocks of flats, to liability, commercial combined, marine, motor trade and legal expenses.

London market

Peter Blanc, Aston Lark Group CEO, commented: “The expertise of the Allegiance Insure team will strengthen our capabilities in the London market, and we are also excited by the opportunity to grow their scheme, which offers fraud protection to lenders. It’s an innovative product with huge potential.

“As ever, cultural fit was the prime driver, and I know that Charles and his team will find Aston Lark and Howden Group to be a great forever home.”

Charles Wintour, managing director of Allegiance Insure, added: “Our clients and staff are our primary consideration.

“Aston Lark have a first-rate reputation for client service, and share our values. I am delighted we have been able to partner with Aston Lark and the Howden Group to allow us to broaden our client offering and provide our staff with further career development opportunities.”

Geographic expansion

The purchase by the consolidator follows on from a string of acquisitions last year. However, as previously reported, Aston Lark is also eyeing widespread regional expansion in its next phase of growth and has confirmed office openings in south Wales and Thames Valley.

In an exclusive interview, Aston Lark UK retail managing director Warren Dickson told Insurance Age that the North, North East, East Anglia and Wales are among several major geographical locations where Aston Lark is looking at growing its regional footprint.
