Ardonagh has reorganised its UK commercial and retail MGAs, with businesses and brands aligned by client type across its platforms, Insurance Age can reveal.

The move happened earlier this month.

The restructure means Ardonagh’s UK commercial and SME MGAs under Geo Underwriting now sit within Ardonagh Advisory which is led by Rob Worrell. The offering will continue to be independently led by UK commercial MGA CEO Jaime Swindle who moved into the post in July having joined the Geo leadership team last December.

Brands in the commercial MGA portfolio include the likes of Thames Underwriting and Rural Insurance, both bought in 2020, Bibu and AIUA.

Also in Advisory are Towergate Insurance Brokers, Ethos Broking, Bravo Networks, Towergate Health and Protection, Thompson & Bryan, the recently acquired Stallard Kane Group and now Lorega which Geo snapped up in July for £28.8m.

Retail

For the UK Derek Coles will continue to run personal lines MGAs Midas and Uris as Retail MGA CEO.

These have been moved to sit alongside Atlanta operating independently as part of the Ardonagh Retail Platform. Atlanta is headed up by CEO Emma Rawlinson who took over from Ian Donaldson last year after he was promoted to the new position of CEO for Ardonagh Retail.

In addition to his remit Coles will continue to focus on strategic opportunities across the broader group.

An Ardonagh spokesperson confirmed to Insurance Age: “The strategy is designed to fit the specialist needs of all our customers by aligning our MGAs with their core lines of business.

“Doing so will build on our strong insurer relationships and support the continued development of innovative products.”
