Finch buys Compass member Headley Group

Deal

Headley brings over £13m in GWP to the Ethos-owned broker.

Finch Group has bought Compass Networks member Headley Group in its 12th deal since becoming part of Ethos Broking in 2016.

Founded in 2003, Headley now operates from three offices across the South of England in Alton, Godalming and Bournemouth.

It brings over £13m in gross written premium to Finch and specialises in commercial lines, high net worth and specialist car schemes.

Staff
According to Ethos, Headley has become one of the largest brokers within the region with four directors and employing 30 members of staff.

The business detailed that all employees will remain with the company after the deal has gone through.

Last May Finch hired Paul Goodman as its new managing director after its former boss, Vincent Gardner, was promoted to director of M&A at Ethos.

Regional
Commenting on the purchase, Goodman said: “I am excited to get my first acquisition as Finch’s MD over the line and couldn’t be happier that it’s a brokerage such as the Headley Group.

“This is a business which has strong regional ties within its communities, and I am pleased that our team will continue the excellent client care that the brand is renowned for.

“Headley’s varied portfolio of business perfectly complements our current position and offers us fantastic growth opportunities.”

Deals
Finch’s previous deals include Richmond-based Shene Insurance, Martinez & Partners in Woodley and Oxfordshire-headquartered Bridle Insurance.

Ethos is part of Bravo Group, which also owns broker Network and Compass. It was itself bought by the Ardonagh Group last year. Since then it has bought Guy Penn & Co.

The business stated that its strategy “remains unaffected” by Covid-19 and that it has a “strong pipeline” of acquisition activity for 2021.
