Clear Group buys Ashford-based broker

Deal

Clear makes first acquisition of the year as it snaps up Kent Insurance Brokers.

The Clear Group has bought Kent Insurance Brokers for an undisclosed sum.

Clear detailed that the move is its first deal in 2022 and represents its 32nd acquisition since it was established in 2001.

Kent Insurance Brokers was established in 1992 and is based in Ashford. It provides general commercial, fleet, property owners and professional indemnity insurance to a customer base largely comprising industrial and engineering sector business owners.

Protection
Doug Rood, owner of Kent Insurance Brokers, said: “By far the most important factor in sourcing the right buyer was to ensure they share the same standards and values we expect for the protection of our customers. Clear were the obvious suitor for our customers and staff alike.”

Mike Edgeley, Group chief executive officer of the Clear Group, added: “Kent Insurance Brokers are a great fit for the Clear Group, and we look forward to Doug Rood and Michele Jarvis joining our team and being part of the Clear Group’s growth journey.”

Acquisitions
Last year Clear purchased Luker Rowe and HIA International as well as Anderson White Insurance Brokers and H R Jennings & Co.

In 2020, it made its largest deal to date when it bought Brokerbility and BHIB.

In its latest set of financial results for the year ended 31 October 2020, Clear reported a rise in turnover to £19.3m.
