Deal for Dublin-based Brassington Insurance is consolidator's sixth in the Republic of Ireland this year.

Aston Lark Ireland has purchased A.R. Brassington & Co, a subsidiary of the ARB Group.

Dublin-based Brassington Insurance was founded by Arthur Rochelle Brassington in 1929 and is one of Ireland’s oldest insurance brokers.

According to Aston Lark, the business offers solutions to clients and customers, direct and wholesale, and is led by the management team of Cathal O’Brien and Paul Carty. O’Brien is now set to exit the business.

The broker specialises in travel insurance and also offers critical illness insurance as well as commercial lines and motor and home cover.

In addition, its wholesale division specialises in providing professional indemnity solutions to insurance brokers.

Tradition
Robert Kennedy, Aston Lark Ireland CEO, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Brassington Insurance to the Aston Lark family, and am very much looking forward to working with Paul and the team.

“Brassington Insurance perfectly encapsulates what we look for in an acquisition. It is a business that is deeply rooted in the market, with decades of rich tradition and history, and it shares the same values and passion for their people and customers. Over 90 years of successful trading, a strong client base and a loyal team is testament to this.”

The deal is the consolidator’s sixth in the Republic of Ireland this year and follows its purchases of Principal Insurance Ireland in July, McMahon Galvin in June, Brady Burns & Associates in May, O’Loughlin Insurance Group in April, and North County Brokers in March.

Opportunity
Paul Carty, A.R. Brassington & Co managing director, commented: “Brassington Insurance has a long history of providing first-class products to the Irish market. We are excited to be joining Aston Lark to further enhance and broaden our offering to our clients.

“We see this as a great opportunity for our clients, insurer partners and our loyal team and look forward to working with Aston Lark.”

Cathal O’Brien, ARB group managing director, concluded: “After 33 years with Brassington Insurance, I am stepping away with pride in what we have achieved.

“I am grateful to all our team (both past and present) who have been instrumental in growing Brassington to what it is today. I am confident that Aston Lark and the Brassington team will continue to grow and develop the business.”
