Aston Lark buys private medical insurance specialist

Deal

Consolidator says it is set to make further deals in the healthcare space as it buys Bournemouth-based The Health Insurance Company.

Aston Lark has agreed terms to acquire the clients of The Health Insurance Company.

The consolidator stated that the deal will further strengthen its “already significant” health insurance expertise and represents another step in the expansion of its employee benefits and healthcare insurance business.

It added that it is planning to make further acquisitions in the healthcare space.

The Health Insurance Company was founded in 2016 by Paul Spector, who had been advising clients on health insurance since 1998.

The private medical insurance specialist is based in Bournemouth and provides cover for both individuals and small businesses.

Ethos
Peter Blanc, Aston Lark group chief executive officer, said: “We’re delighted to welcome The Health Insurance Company to Aston Lark’s employee benefits family. Paul’s ethos for customer service fits in perfectly with Aston Lark.

“We’re growing strongly in the private health insurance market and we continue to seek other like-minded private medical insurance brokers that want to join forces to be able to better service their clients going forward.”

Paul Spector, founder of The Health Insurance Company, added: “This is an incredible milestone in the history of my company. We pride ourselves on offering our clients first-class professional advice combined with great customer service.

“Aston Lark have the same ethos and professionalism as The Health Insurance Company and I am excited that clients will now be able to benefit from the huge potential of dealing with this superb company, and their enhanced ability to offer clients some of the best propositions in the marketplace, whilst maintaining the personal service that we have placed so much emphasis on.”

Health
In February Aston Lark bought two brokers in the health insurance space, Right to Health and The Health Insurance Specialists.

This followed on from its purchase of Private Healthcare Managers in August 2020 and the hire of former CEO of specialist private medical insurance broker Chase Templeton, Warren Dickson, as UK Retail managing director in September 2020.
